It’s pretty common knowledge that being out in nature is good for our mental health. So why not take it a step further and get those hands dirty! Be engaged with nature, nurturing it instead of just observing it.
This Self-Care Sunday is dedicated to my amateur gardening skills. I have a planter box in the backyard that’s about 7 feet by 3 feet with a drip system that prevents me from neglecting to water anything I plant there. This year I planted basil, tomato and bell pepper.

If all goes well, we’ll be eating bruschetta by this summer! I also make a mean pesto with the extra basil. 😋
In addition to these new plants, I have a boysenberry bush that I planted years ago when we first moved in.

From the end of May thru June, we get delicious berries that I eat straight off the vine! There’s just something so satisfying about going out into the backyard and picking something delicious to eat.
But, if you don’t have the space, or the desire to create your own garden, you can rent one. That’s right, a regular garden Airbnb. The rent a garden business is blossoming from people looking for a space to decompress, do yoga or actually do some gardening.
As for me, I’m going to calm my anxiety by sitting on my patio and enjoy this small but productive little space that will soon be the source of some delicious food.
Hope all of you have a beautiful Sunday. ❤️
